Phil Mann
Co-Founder of BHT.
With over 10 years of tattooing experience, Phil specialises in Black and Grey/colour Dotwork illustration and pattern work tattoos. Phil will also take on other styles for his clients, always executed to a high level.
Ben Rhodes
Originally from the West Midlands Ben learnt to tattoo whilst living on the south coast of the UK. Ben is an avid collector of Tattoos, he enjoys immersing himself in the history and the culture surrounding the tattoo industry. He is inspired by Japanese, American Traditional and Blackwork, he has always been drawn to these striking images and the idea of transforming the body by permanently wearing these art forms on the skin.
Martha Carlyle
Since completing her apprenticeship in 2021, Martha has explored a wide range of styles in her tattooing, from colourful, American traditional inspired designs to more delicate black and grey pieces. She loves to tattoo anything bold and bright, particularly florals and animals, and enjoys seeking out new ideas and techniques to perfect her craft. Martha draws inspiration from fine art and nature, and always strives to bring her clients' visions to life.
Fiona McCabe
Fiona started her journey as a body piercer here at Black Heron Tattoo, with gentle touch and a calming manner she will make sure you are comfortable every step of the piercing process, from the moment you make your first piercing appointment all the way to aftercare. She keeps a variety of jewellery in stock to find the perfect piece for you because what matters most is that exciting moment when you feel confident and beautiful with your new piercing!

do you take walk ins?
Although BHT is predominantly an appointment based studio we always try and accommodate walks ins. If we are unable to get you in immediately we will try and get you booked in for ASAP.
I want to get a tattoo but don’t know which artist to pick?
Every enquiry made to the studio is carefully looked over and assigned to the best suited artist based upon your reference photos and information provided.
what do i need to bring to my appointment?
Please make sure you bring a valid form of I.D with you to any appointment, we need it in order to process you consent form and will be unable to proceed with your tattoo without it . We also ask that you bring cash to pay the total cost of your tattoo minus your deposit. We also suggest bringing snacks and a drink. Most important don’t forget to bring the good vibes!
CAN I USED NUMBING CREAM
Generally we recommend against it however if you wish to use it then please confirm prior to your appointment with your chosen artist beforehand. Please make sure you test the numbing cream before the appointment as they can cause reactions.
DO YOU OFFER COVER UPS?
We sure do,our team are more than happy to advise you on weather an existing tattoo is able to be covered up and can work with you on a design.
Can i bring a friend with me to my appointment?
Unfortunately due to the size of the studio we kindly ask that you come alone to your appointment. In certain circumstances exceptions can be made but please ask your artist beforehand weather its okay.
